9 Quick Wins for This Week

Because ain't nobody got time for 10.

Writing this newsletter at 9:30pm on Sunday night to go out Monday morning. I had it in my queue to work on last week but honestly - last week was a lot for me. So I took a nap instead.😜

Alright - let’s get into it, shall we? Because we are tight on time but want to see big impact for our podcast here are 10 things you can do this week to change your podcast’s growth trajectory.

1. Build a keyword bank

This is something you should already have if you’re creating any kind of long form content. Work with your preferred AI model or sit down and do some good ol’ fashion brainstorming and figure out who your audience is and what keywords they’re using to search for answers to their content.

Use this keyword bank to incorporate keywords into your episode titles and show description.

2. Optimize Your Episode Titles for Search

Using the keyword bank you just created - update your episode titles from meh to irresistible. Instead of "Episode 45: Interview with Jane Smith," try "How a Solo Entrepreneur Built a 7-Figure Business in 12 Months - with Jane Smith." Focus on the value listeners will get and include relevant keywords naturally.

Hint: You can update episode titles from previously released episodes. Do this and watch analytics over the next 90 days to see if you see any changes!

3. Leverage Your Guests' Networks

Make it effortless for guests to share their episodes:

  • Create custom promotional graphics for each guest

  • Write sample social media posts they can use

  • Include their handles/tags in all promotional materials

  • Send a friendly reminder email on launch day with all sharing assets

4. Optimize Your Show Notes

Transform your show notes from basic summaries into valuable resources:

  • Include an episode summary but don’t regurgitate the episode (this is what most AI models will do)

  • List all resources mentioned (with links)

  • Add relevant keywords naturally

  • Include a clear call-to-action

  • Use bullet points and short snappy sentences for readability

5. Cross-Promote with Similar Podcasts

Reach out to 3-5 podcasts in your niche this week with similar audience sizes. Propose a cross-promotion where you:

  • Mention each other's shows in your intros

  • Share each other's content on social media

  • Consider doing guest spots on each other's shows

6. Create a "Start Here" Episode

New listeners need guidance. Create a brief (5-10 minute) episode that:

  • Introduces you and your show's mission

  • Highlights your best episodes

  • Explains what makes your podcast unique

  • Tells listeners what to expect Pin this episode to the top of your feed.

7. Optimize Your Podcast Artwork

Your cover art is your podcast's first impression. Ensure it:

  • Is readable at small sizes (especially your title)

  • Uses contrasting colors for visibility

  • Reflects your show's tone and topic

  • Includes a compelling tagline if space permits

8. Engage with Your Community

Spend 30 minutes daily this week:

  • Responding to listener comments

  • Participating in podcast-related social media groups

  • Answering questions in your niche on Reddit or Quora

  • Sharing valuable insights on LinkedIn or Twitter

Bonus points: incorporate some kind of live feedback into your show that is predictable and deepens your audience’s relationship with you. Maybe it’s an Instagram Live or a YouTube Livestream 2-3 days after the podcast episode is released where they can do an AMA based on your episode. Make sure you give this as a call to action in the show!

9. Create Platform-Specific Promotional Content

Different platforms require different approaches. Create:

  • Reels for Instagram

  • Thread-style tips for X, Bluesky, or Threads

  • Behind-the-scenes content for TikTok

  • Professional insights for LinkedIn
